About Fox Valley Cardiovascular Consultants
In 1986, cardiologists Drs. Abbas Khawaja and Santosh Gill brought together their respective practices to form Fox Valley Cardiovascular Consultants, LLC. Each had been in practice for several years serving the community and had been the ones to initially bring cardiac catheterization and angioplasty to the community and initiate the open heart programs at both Provena Mercy Medical Center and Rush-Copley Medical Center.
Today, with a total of seven cardiologists and a nurse practitioner, FVCC continues to grow to respond to the needs of a growing community. The Aurora, Illinois area is the second largest community in Illinois. Kendall County located directly west is among the top 5 fastest growing communities in the country. FVCC offers clinics at three locations--two in Aurora and one in Sandwich, IL.
Here are few additional highlights throughout the history of FVCC:
- In 2005, Dr. Edward Lipman joined FVCC. This marked the first full time electrophysiologist physician in the area. He has since brought advanced heart rhythm services including biventricular pacing and ablations into the community. These had previously required referral into the academic centers which often proved more costly and inconvenient for patients.
In 2004, Dr. Gill established the Women’s Heart Center of FVCC-- one of a handful of its kind in the country--to respond to the number one killer of women Since then, this program has been recognized in several ways:
- One of 33 physicians in the State of Illinois and only area recipient of NCQA recognition for Heart and Stroke
- One of only 5 center in country to receive National Institute of Health grant to further women’s heart care
- Only center to sponsor regional Women’s Heart Symposium for last 5 years--bringing talent from across the country and attracting over 200 attendees per year.
- In addition, each patient receives a comprehensive risk profile, extensive educational experience and access to on-site dietitian and specialty care.
To respond to the needs of the rural community, our cardiologists rotate out to Sandwich, IL where there is a 15 bed hospital and population of less than 5000 people. FVCC provides the only interventional cardiology service. This commitment has been there for over 15 years.
FVCC cardiologists proudly serve as Medical Directors of Cardiology at both area hospitals and actively participate in meetings to assure the best patient care.
To respond to future needs, FVCC will be implementing an electronic medical record in early 2008 to provide greater information to doctors, patients and partners. Currently, FVCC is working with area hospitals to be among the first specialty clinic to initiate this effort in the ambulatory setting. This effort will serve as catalyst for other providers to adapt in the community.
As you can see, FVCC has an unwavering commitment to the community and a strong record of assuring the best technology and clinical programs.
Thank you for your support of our practice for your heart care needs. If you need additional information or detail, please let us know and we will be happy to provide.
